Hi Everyone!

Our next teleclass: What You Will Need to Know To Make a Website, with Bud Kraus, Joy of Code Web Design and Consulting . It takes place on Thursday, March 26, 2009 from 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM EST.

If you've been expanding your offerings into web design but aren't really sure that you're doing it the right way, then join Bud Kraus, web design instructor and consultant. Bud will discuss the most important topics needed to design and produce successful web deliverables for your clients.

Bud will cover:
What web design skills do clients and employers expect me to know?
Is it necessary to code web pages by hand?
Is Dreamweaver still a preferred web design tool? What other
desktop and online applications do I need to know?
What role do online publishing services like WordPress or Drupal
play in publishing online?
Where does SEO fit into what I should be doing?
Do I need to learn a programming language such as Javascript, PHP or Perl?
What is the typical design/production process in the age of web templates?

The fee is $15 for members and $25 for non-members. When you register you will be sent information about how to dial in, as well as any applicable handouts from our speakers. And, as a special bonus, all registrants will receive an audio file of the class.

For those unable to attend and want to learn what was covered, classes will be available as downloadable audio files for the same price. More information on these files will be posted on the Guild’s web site as the files become available.

A registration form is posted monthly for each upcoming class at:

A Seminar with Bud Kraus, of joyofcode.com

Awareness of the nature of The Electronic Canvas is essential in the development, design and production of web sites which yield the highest values and best experiences to users and clients. Ignorance is just no excuse as it can lead to devastating consequences for all concerned. Sustainability & Green Design for Creatives
& how we can make a difference
Panel Discussion & Networking Reception
Thursday, October 16th, 7:00 - 9:00 PM
Pratt Institute Manhattan Campus,144 W. 14th Street, Room 213

How do we as a community of working graphic artists, art directors and designers find new methods to conserve our natural resources, so that the earth we live on is not depleted or permanently damaged.

Join us as a panel of experts from Mohawk Paper, the Lowe-Martin Group, Pratt Institute’s Academic Director of Sustainability and The Vox Collective discuss promoting sustainable practices in the graphic arts.

* How conventional materials and processes impact on the environment and human health, and which ones are the most important to reduce.
* The fundamental principals of a good, sustainable design practice.
* How artists can be educated, and can educate others, on socially aware and sustainable practices.
* The brand impacts of sustainable design, and how to avoid consumer and media backlash for perceived public problems.

Together we can find ways to make a difference, and contribute to saving the environment.

Networking Reception — Refreshments will be served.
